Hutchinson1“I’ve got 25 acres of AmeriStand 403T that’s going on its fifth year and, so far, I really like it. It’s seems to be a fine-leaf variety that works good for square baling; plus the nutrition and the tonnage has both been very good. I usually chop the first cutting as silage for about 200 head of feeders that I finish over the winter. If they don’t get rained on, I put the other cuttings up in square bales and sell those to a neighbor who raises sheep. Last year, as I recall, I got around 1,600 bales weighing in the range of 65 pounds each on the second cutting. That comes out to more than 60 bales per acre.

“This past fall, I planted another 31 acres to America’s Alfalfa; but this time, I mixed six bags of AmeriStand 407TQ with 10 bags of AmeriStand 403T and fertilizer before broadcasting it and rolling it in. It was looking real good before the snow.” -- Darrell Hutchinson of Atkinson, Illinois, 56 acres of alfalfa (all America’s Alfalfa) and an America’s Alfalfa grower for six years.
