“With the 20 acres we planted last fall, we now have about 35 acres of AmeriStand 403T. It seems to have a lot finer stems than most alfalfa, which is why we went back to it last year. We did tear up 10 acres of the old crop, but the other 10 acres was additional acreage. I know the cows seem to prefer it for the fine stems. We have a 60-cow dairy, so we’re always looking for ways to increase milk production. We usually put it up as dry hay and feed it free choice, but I also put some in the TMR mixer.
